MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the President on Monday advised protesters to avoid using foul language during demonstrations, while affirming the administration’s support for the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and free expression.
The statement followed the Trillion Peso March held on Sunday, where participants voiced criticisms of government policies, some using strong language and slogans that drew public attention.
In a message released through official media channels, the Presidential Communications Office emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum during public protests. Officials noted that demonstrators serve as examples to younger audiences and urged participants to consider the impact of their language on children and youth.
The Palace stressed the need to strike a balance between exercising free speech and promoting social responsibility. It called on protesters to engage in respectful discourse, stating that civil expression fosters a more constructive and inclusive national dialogue.
Authorities said the government continues to monitor protest activities and remains open to engaging with organizers to ensure peaceful and orderly gatherings. Relevant agencies maintain coordination with demonstrators to uphold public safety and democratic rights.
Participants in the Trillion Peso March used creative banners, chants, and performances to convey messages on governance and accountability. Protesters also called for reforms in public finance and transparency.
The Palace reiterated its commitment to democratic principles and encouraged all sectors to engage in constructive dialogue. Officials affirmed their role in safeguarding both the right to assembly and the need for a peaceful civic environment.
