MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Wednesday called for immediate action to address alleged disinformation involving President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the warning followed accusations from vlogger Deen Chase claiming illegal drug use by the President and First Lady, and the circulation of an explicit photo purportedly of Araneta-Marcos.
“Rumours concerning President Marcos Jr. and FL Liza are being spread to harm their character and integrity,” Castro said in a Viber message to reporters.
She added that unverified claims can be circulated for political or personal gain and urged measures to prevent the spread of false information.
Castro also said disinformation could have wider effects on tourism and the economy, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
