Malacañang has dismissed a citizen’s request for the Independent Commission on Investigations (ICI) to open a probe into First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, likening the accuser to a “nuisance candidate.”
The request, submitted through a letter of sentiment, pushed for an inquiry into alleged links between the First Lady and businessman Maynard Ngu.
The accuser, identified as a private citizen, also insinuated that Ngu could be involved in activities that benefit Senator Chiz Escudero.
Palace officials rejected the request, labeling it a “fishing expedition” and stressing that no substantive evidence accompanied the claims. Malacañang reiterated that the allegations lack basis and do not warrant action from the ICI.
