MANILA, Philippines– Malacañang announced on Thursday that the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will lead an investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

Presidential Spokesperson Juan dela Cruz confirmed the decision during a Palace press briefing, stating that the ICI—not the Office of the Ombudsman—will oversee the probe.

The Palace said the investigation aims to uncover possible misconduct in the implementation of flood control and other infrastructure projects. Officials emphasized the need to uphold transparency and accountability in public works.

According to Malacañang, the ICI has the technical expertise and resources to ensure a comprehensive inquiry. The government directed all concerned agencies to cooperate with the commission’s investigation.

The Palace assured the public that the probe will proceed impartially and that the ICI will submit its findings and recommendations once the review concludes.

Malacañang reiterated its commitment to fighting corruption and maintaining integrity in infrastructure development.
