MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has flagged a flood control project costing ₱500,000 per meter for possible overpricing as part of its ongoing review of government-funded infrastructure works.

According to the DENR, the project is among several flood control initiatives under scrutiny due to cost concerns and potential environmental impact.

One of the questioned projects was built on idle land, prompting inquiries regarding its necessity and effectiveness. Other projects under review have designs that, according to technical findings, could worsen flooding during the rainy season.

The DENR said it is conducting an investigation to determine compliance with financial and environmental standards.
