The Philippine government announced plans to repatriate 346 Filipino workers who fell victim to human trafficking in Myanmar, according to a Palace statement on Tuesday, November 11.
The workers were reportedly employed in scam hubs and became targets of trafficking during their stay in Myanmar. Authorities identified the victims as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
The repatriation effort involves the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), with the Embassy of the Philippines in Myanmar providing assistance and support. The government is also coordinating with Myanmar authorities to ensure the safe return of its citizens.
Officials emphasized that the welfare and safety of Filipino workers abroad remain a top priority. The victims will return once all necessary arrangements and clearances are completed.
