McKINNEY, Texas — City officials in McKinney announced that the planned opening of the $300 million Sunset Amphitheater has been moved to 2027 as the developer revises the project’s planning, design, and construction schedule.
The 20,000-seat outdoor venue will be built in McKinney, north of Dallas, and will be developed and operated by Colorado-based Venu Holding Corp. City officials said the project remains active and that the updated timeline reflects ongoing coordination on design, infrastructure, and permitting requirements.
According to city records, the Sunset Amphitheater carries an estimated cost of about $300 million, covering construction, design, and related infrastructure.
McKinney officials said the project requires road, utility, and access improvements at the site, which contributed to the revised schedule. City departments continue to work with Venu Holding Corp., consultants, and state agencies on traffic planning, environmental reviews, noise studies, and public safety requirements.
Venu Holding Corp. confirmed it continues to lead the project and is refining site engineering, design details, and construction sequencing to meet the new opening target.
City officials said the change in timeline does not affect the planned location or size of the amphitheater. The City of McKinney will provide additional updates as the project moves toward construction milestones and the projected 2027 opening.
