OpenAI, a company headquartered in the United States, has banned accounts in the Philippines involved in generating social media comments supporting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and criticizing Vice President Sara Duterte.

The ban was detailed in OpenAI’s report titled “Disrupting Malicious Uses of AI.”

The operation, known as “Operation High Five,” used ChatGPT to produce short, positive comments about the government, which were then disseminated on TikTok and Facebook.

The comments generated had a low engagement rate and formed part of a political influence campaign.

OpenAI assessed the operation as having low impact.
