On-duty Houston police officer dies in Anderson County crash

Senior Police Officer of the Houston Police Department died during a traffic escort in Anderson County, Texas.

Officer Alex Roberts was on a motorcycle when another vehicle struck him.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating the crash. Officer Roberts had been a part of the Houston Police Department since November 2010. He worked in the Traffic Enforcement Division’s Solo Motorcycle Detail.

Officer Roberts’ death has prompted mourning from within the department and the community. The Houston Police Department released a statement expressing their sorrow over the loss of a dedicated officer. Community leaders also shared their condolences and recognized Officer Roberts’ service.
