CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — Starting Saturday, visitors to the 2026 Winter Olympics can take a unique side trip to the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, via snowmobile. The jagged limestone pinnacles are just 23 kilometers from the Cortina competition venues.
The tours are offered through a partnership between Uber, the official ride-hailing sponsor of the Games, and Cortina-based winter activities company Snowdreamers. Olympic torchbearer Giulia Baffetti, who runs the snowmobiling tours, said free rides will be available on weekends in February.
“The Three Peaks are a magical place, and this is a way for more people to experience it,” Baffetti said. The area is popular with hikers and climbers in warmer months, while winter visitors enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding.
The 7-kilometer snowmobile ride reaches speeds of up to 40 kph, passing snow-covered trees and wildlife such as deer and wolves. Drivers are instructed to slow down when encountering skiers or sledders.
From the base of the peaks, the dramatic southernmost Lavaredo summit rises sharply, offering a close-up view of the Dolomites, which are already breathtaking from Cortina town.
