Severe thunderstorms have left thousands of homes in North Texas without power. Oncor, the region’s main electricity provider, reported that Denton, Dallas, and Tarrant counties are among the most affected. The outages resulted from heavy storms that swept across the area, causing significant disruptions to the power grid.

The weather event hit North Texas on Wednesday night, bringing strong winds and large hail. According to weather reports, nearly 25,000 customers in North Texas remained without power by Thursday morning. The severe weather included high winds and hail the size of golf balls, contributing to widespread power disruptions.

Oncor, the company responsible for distributing electricity in the region, has been working around the clock to restore power. Their outage map, updated every 10 minutes, shows active outages and areas affected. Customers can report outages through their online portal or by calling a dedicated helpline. As of the latest updates, efforts to restore power are ongoing, with crews dispatched to the most affected areas.

The severe weather warnings were issued for much of North Texas, including counties like Collin, Cooke, Denton, and Grayson. The National Weather Service had earlier warned of potential severe thunderstorms, advising residents to stay indoors and be cautious of flying debris.

North Texas has been experiencing volatile weather patterns, with this recent storm adding to a series of severe weather occurrences. The strong gusts of wind uprooted trees and damaged property, adding to the challenges of restoring power quickly.

Local authorities and emergency services were mobilized to provide assistance and ensure safety. Shelters were set up in some areas to accommodate those without power, offering food and basic necessities. Residents were advised to avoid roads and areas with downed power lines for their safety.

The electricity provider has been coordinating with various agencies to expedite the restoration process. Restoration crews are concentrating efforts on the most severely affected areas, prioritizing critical infrastructure and supplies.

Despite the efforts, full restoration will take some time due to the extent of the damage caused by the storms. Oncor has reassured the public that all available resources are being utilized to ensure power is restored as swiftly as possible. The company has urged residents to remain patient and understanding during this challenging period.

Weather forecasts indicate a possibility of continued thunderstorms in the coming days, which could potentially impact restoration activities. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through local news updates and official channels for the latest information.
