DALLAS, Texas– A North Texas man has been charged in connection with the death of his 17-year-old daughter from alcohol poisoning earlier this year.
Michael Cain, 35, of Sherman, was arrested and faces a charge of criminally negligent homicide following an investigation into the January 10 incident.
Authorities allege that Cain supplied alcoholic beverages to his daughter, who was later found unresponsive and pronounced dead at a local hospital. According to the medical examiner’s findings, the teen’s cause of death was acute ethanol toxicity.
Police say the father and daughter had consumed alcohol together before the teen was discovered unresponsive. Emergency services transported her to the hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her death. Cain was later taken into custody, and his bond has been set at $100,000.
The Sherman Police Department is leading the investigation and continues to gather evidence related to the case. Officials are working to determine the full sequence of events that led to the teen’s death.
