PYONGYANG, North Korea– North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on an unspecified date test-fired a newly developed sniper rifle, according to North Korean state media reports on Saturday.

Kim conducted the test while visiting special forces to evaluate their training exercises.

During his visit, Kim praised the special forces’ training and emphasized its importance for enhancing their combat readiness.

The test-firing of the sniper rifle occurred as Kim Jong Un inspected the troops’ training activities. North Korean state media highlighted Kim’s satisfaction with the newly developed weapon and its capabilities.

Details on the specifications or type of the sniper rifle tested were not disclosed by the state media.

Kim Jong Un’s visit to the special forces underscores North Korea’s focus on military preparedness and weapon development.

The North Korean leader’s inspection follows reports from South Korea’s spy agency that indicate North Korea’s deployment of troops to Russia in support of Moscow.

State media did not confirm the deployment of troops to Russia during Kim’s visit.
