HOUSTON, Texas — The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has publicly named over 100 educators in its ongoing investigation into allegations of fraudulent certifications.

Among these, nearly 50 teachers are from the Houston area. The investigation has garnered attention due to claims that some individuals may have obtained their teaching credentials through deceitful means.

Houston Independent School District (HISD) is at the center of these allegations with three of its employees allegedly involved in orchestrating the scheme.

These employees are accused of facilitating a process that allows unqualified individuals to receive teaching certifications without completing the required examinations or meeting the necessary qualifications.

Court documents reveal that around 430 tests were taken fraudulently as part of the scandal. This misconduct has led to the certification of more than 210 teachers who did not meet the necessary qualifications, according to the investigation.

The probe into this matter began when irregularities were discovered in the certification process. The TEA has been working alongside law enforcement agencies to uncover the full extent of the fraud and identify those responsible.

The accused individuals are believed to have manipulated the certification system to benefit financially, although specific details about the financial transactions involved have not been disclosed.

As the investigation progresses, the TEA has taken steps to ensure that the affected teachers are removed from their positions pending further examination.

The TEA has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding high standards for educators in Texas and ensuring that all students have access to quality education.
