Governor Greg Abbott ordered the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate emergency resources ahead of a severe weather system expected to impact much of the state beginning Thursday night through the weekend.

The National Weather Service warns of large hail, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and heavy rain that could cause flash flooding.

The threat will start in West Texas, the Panhandle, South Plains, and North Texas before moving south and east into the Concho Valley, Hill Country, Brazos Valley, and Deep East Texas.

Emergency teams are preparing for swift water rescues, evacuations, and coordinated response operations. Abbott urged residents to stay alert, follow local advisories, and prepare emergency plans as the state and local officials monitor conditions closely.
