NEW ORLEANS —Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green confronted a courtside fan on Sunday night at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, after the fan repeatedly called him a woman during the Warriors’ 124–106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Green said after the game that the fan first made a comment he viewed as a joke, but the repeated remarks prompted him to approach the spectator during live play near the sideline. He said he notified game officials and arena security about the comments and asked them to address the situation under NBA fan-conduct rules.
Green returned to the floor after the confrontation and completed the game. He said the exchange was verbal and that he did not make physical contact with the fan.
The Warriors did not issue a formal statement following the incident. The Pelicans and the NBA did not immediately announce any disciplinary action or confirm whether they opened a review.
Green said he expects league and team officials to review video of the interaction and determine any next steps under existing policies. The NBA had not publicly confirmed the status of any review as of late Sunday night.
