MIAMI — Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro underwent surgery on Friday to address an issue in his left ankle and foot, the team announced.

Dr. Thomas San Giovanni performed the 90-minute procedure to alleviate posterior impingement syndrome in Herro’s ankle. The surgery will sideline Herro for the start of the Heat’s training camp, which begins later this month.

Herro is the team’s leading returning scorer. The Heat have not provided a specific timeline for his recovery.
