The National Basketball Association is conducting an internal investigation into gambling allegations involving Malik Beasley, Commissioner Adam Silver said Wednesday after the league’s board of governors meeting in New York.

“I’ll only say the investigation is ongoing,” Silver told reporters. “As I understand it, there’s still a federal investigation that’s ongoing of Malik Beasley as well. We will address whatever is presented to us in his case.”

Beasley’s attorney, Steve Haney, told ESPN that the player is “fully cooperating” with the league’s probe. The allegations reportedly stem from improper betting on NBA games and prop bets during the 2023–24 season, when Beasley played for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 28-year-old guard was previously under federal investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. That probe, tied to a gambling conspiracy that led to four guilty pleas—including from former NBA player Jontay Porter—initially listed Beasley as a target. Haney later said in August that his client was “no longer a target,” though he admitted it remains unclear whether Beasley could still face charges.

Beasley signed with the Detroit Pistons in July 2024 and went on to average 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists across a career-high 82 games last season.
