DENVER — Nikola Jokic set an NBA record after scoring 18 points in overtime on Thursday night as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 142-138 in a regular-season game at Ball Arena.

Jokic scored all of his overtime points in the final 2 minutes and 53 seconds to lead Denver to the win.

The Denver center surpassed the previous league record for points in a single overtime period. Game officials confirmed the mark following the game, and the NBA recorded the total in its official game summary.

Minnesota held a late lead in regulation before Denver forced overtime. Jokic led the Nuggets’ offense in the closing minutes of regulation and continued his scoring run in the extra period as Denver completed the comeback.

Jokic finished the game as Denver’s leading scorer and played the entire overtime period. Denver relied on his inside scoring, midrange shots, and free throws to outscore Minnesota in the extra session despite defensive pressure from the Timberwolves.

The victory improved Denver’s record in the Western Conference, while Minnesota took the loss. The game featured multiple lead changes, with both teams trading baskets in the fourth quarter before overtime decided the outcome.
