Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga agreed to a two-year, $48.5 million contract on Tuesday, ending a prolonged negotiation period with the team.

Kuminga, entering his fifth year in the NBA, said the talks gave him insight into the league’s business operations.

“It was a learning process, but I’m glad we reached an agreement. My goal is to stay with the Warriors long-term,” he said.

The deal comes as the Warriors make significant roster adjustments. Team executives emphasized Kuminga’s development and performance as factors in the negotiations, describing him as a key piece of the franchise’s future plans.

Kuminga’s role is expected to expand under the new contract. The Warriors view the agreement as part of their long-term strategy to remain competitive, while Kuminga expressed his commitment to contributing to the team’s championship aspirations.
