Dallas Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison announced on Wednesday night that Jason Kidd will return as head coach for the next NBA season.

The announcement followed the Mavericks selecting Duke’s Cooper Flagg as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Harrison confirmed Kidd’s continuation after addressing recent rumors about his potential departure. Kidd is entering his fifth season with the Mavericks.

Cooper Flagg was selected first overall and will begin his professional career with the Mavericks under Kidd’s coaching.

The Mavericks aim to integrate Flagg into their roster alongside existing players, with Kidd leading the team for the upcoming season.
