Milwaukee Bucks All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo left Monday night’s game on Nov. 18 in Cleveland in the second quarter after he sustained a left groin strain during a 118-106 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, as team officials began evaluations to determine how the injury will affect his availability.

Team medical staff escorted Antetokounmpo to the locker room after he appeared to grab his left groin during play in the second quarter. The Bucks announced during the game that he would not return because of the groin strain.

Antetokounmpo logged limited minutes before his exit and did not finish the first half. The Bucks entered the game with Antetokounmpo as their leading scorer and primary offensive option this season.

Bucks coach Doc Rivers told reporters after the game that he did not have any further update on Antetokounmpo’s status. He said the team would determine the next step for Antetokounmpo after further evaluation from medical staff and that any decision on resting him for multiple games would depend on medical guidance.

The Bucks adjusted their rotation after Antetokounmpo’s departure and relied on remaining starters and bench players to cover his minutes. The Cavaliers maintained control in the second half, used balanced scoring, and secured the 118-106 victory.
