PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers announced Monday that veteran guard Kyle Lowry has re-signed with the team on a one-year deal as he enters his 20th season in the NBA.

Lowry, 39, is a Philadelphia native who returned to his hometown team last season after signing as a free agent on February 13, 2024. The 76ers did not disclose the terms of the new contract.

During his stint with the team last season, Lowry averaged 3.9 points and 2.7 assists per game. Known for his leadership and defensive capabilities, the six-time All-Star is expected to provide veteran presence and stability as the 76ers prepare for the upcoming season.

Originally drafted in 2006 by the Memphis Grizzlies, Lowry has played for several franchises throughout his career, including the Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat.

He played a key role in Toronto’s 2019 NBA championship and has maintained a reputation for competitiveness and tenacity on the court.

The 76ers expressed enthusiasm about Lowry’s return, citing his impact both on and off the court. His experience is expected to benefit the team’s younger players and strengthen the backcourt depth.

As the franchise continues building a roster aimed at contending in the Eastern Conference, Lowry’s re-signing marks a strategic move to add leadership and depth to the lineup. The team and fans alike await his contributions as Philadelphia sets its sights on a strong performance in the 2025–2026 NBA season.
