North Korea denounced a U.S. missile defense initiative proposed by President Donald Trump, calling the plan a “very dangerous” threat, according to a memorandum released by state media on Tuesday.
The missile shield system, referred to as the “Golden Dome,” seeks to incorporate space-based defenses as part of the United States’ broader military strategy.
North Korea’s foreign ministry criticized the initiative in a statement published by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), alleging that the plan aims to weaponize space and undermine the security of nuclear-armed nations.
“This is a very dangerous ‘threatening initiative’ that targets the strategic stability among states with nuclear capabilities,” the memorandum stated.
The statement follows President Trump’s recent unveiling of new details and funding allocations for the Golden Dome system, signaling the administration’s intent to advance missile defense technologies with a significant focus on space.
The KCNA report also echoes past criticisms from Pyongyang on international security measures perceived as hostile.
