MANILA, Philippines– Prosecutors in the Philippines are currently evaluating murder and serious illegal detention charges filed against businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and 61 others concerning missing cockfight enthusiasts, known as sabungeros.

The charges are in connection with the disappearance of several individuals involved in the cockfight industry, and the cases have been submitted for resolution.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has completed the preliminary investigation into these allegations.

Prosecutors are now assessing the evidence and testimonies gathered during the investigation phase.

The defense legal team for Atong Ang has expressed concerns about the credibility of the evidence and is hoping for a possible re-investigation.

The panel of prosecutors will determine whether sufficient evidence exists to proceed with filing the case in court or if the charges should be dismissed.

The families of the missing sabungeros remain hopeful for justice and resolution in the case.
