MANILA, Philippines– Authorities recovered 57 additional skeletal remains from Taal Lake in Batangas on Wednesday as the search continued for missing “sabungeros” linked to alleged abductions connected to game fowl operations.
Investigators from the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement units conducted the retrieval operation in a designated sector of the lake using boats and specialized search equipment. Police forensic teams brought the remains to a government facility for examination and possible DNA testing.
The search was carried out in coordination with local government units and disaster response teams, which helped secure the area and provide logistical support. Investigators documented the location of each set of remains and gathered physical evidence to support ongoing criminal investigations.
Police officials monitored the forensic examination to determine if any of the remains matched profiles of missing “sabungeros.” Authorities also provided updates to families of missing individuals as identification work progressed.
