HOUSTON, Texas — Frisco Police Department has recently welcomed a new K9 officer with a unique background.
Lynne, a two-year-old Labrador retriever, is the latest addition to the Frisco Police Department’s K9 team.
Lynne’s journey to becoming a police dog sets her apart from her canine colleagues as unlike many police dogs trained in specialized facilities, she was raised and trained in an unconventional setting—within the walls of a maximum-security prison.
This upbringing is a result of her involvement in a program called Puppies Behind Bars.
Puppies Behind Bars is a non-profit organization dedicated to a unique mission: training inmates to raise puppies that will later become service dogs.
These dogs serve various roles, including assisting law enforcement agencies and providing support for veterans with disabilities.
The organization’s aim is to offer a second chance to both inmates and dogs, fostering rehabilitation and growth for all involved.
