MANILA, Philippines– President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday urged personnel of local government units (LGUs) and regional offices of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to uphold transparency and accountability in government projects.

Speaking at the SubayBAYANI Awards 2025 at the Manila Hotel, Marcos stressed the importance of open governance to regain public trust. “The Filipino people are watching and have the right to criticize. We in government are the builders and deliverers of reliable public service,” he said.

He encouraged officials to give the public access to government processes, noting that transparency empowers citizens as partners in promoting accountability. Marcos highlighted the newly launched Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Transparency Portal, which allows the public to monitor the implementation of public works, from procurement to project utilization.

This year’s SubayBAYANI awardees include nine top-performing LGUs, 126 exemplary LGUs, and three DILG regional offices. “You have shown that when there is data, there is a basis. When there is a process, there is direction. And when there are results, the public places its trust in us,” Marcos said.
