President Donald Trump will host Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday at the White House to discuss tariffs and the situation in China.

The visit aims to enhance security and economic relations between the United States and the Philippines amid changing geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific region.

On Monday, Marcos held meetings with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The meeting marks Marcos as the first Southeast Asian leader to engage in talks with Trump during his second term.

The three-day visit underscores the significance of the alliance between the United States and the Philippines, especially with China’s increasing assertiveness in the South China Sea.
