MANILA, Philippines– Malacañang announced that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will sign the 2026 national budget on Jan. 5 next year, at the Palace in Manila.
Until then, the government will operate under a re-enacted budget for the first five days of the year.
Under this temporary budget, national agencies can fund ongoing programs and projects from the previous year but cannot start new initiatives included only in the 2026 budget. Executive officials said the re-enacted budget ensures continuity of operations while awaiting the President’s signature on the 2026 General Appropriations Act.
Once signed on Jan. 5, the new budget will allow agencies to implement the full range of programs, projects, and activities approved for 2026. The Department of Budget and Management will then release the necessary guidelines and documents for agencies to access their new allocations.
