President Marcos signs bill ensuring prompt Muslim funeral practices

MANILA, Philippines– President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 12160, also known as the Philippine Islamic Burial Act, which guarantees the right of Filipino Muslims to bury their deceased promptly, in alignment with Islamic traditions.

The legislation mandates that a Muslim burial should be conducted as soon as possible after death.

This act aims to respect and uphold the cultural and religious practices of the Muslim community in the Philippines.

The law facilitates the immediate interment of the deceased, adhering to Islamic rites.

The signing of RA 12160 emphasizes the government’s commitment to honoring religious diversity and supporting the customs of minority groups in the country.
