MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. addressed the proposal for a wage increase for private sector workers, stressing the need for further examination before any decision is made.

The suggested wage hike, proposed by legislators, ranges from P100 to P200 for all workers.

Marcos, speaking in Pasay City on Friday, acknowledged the economic difficulties many workers are facing due to rising costs and inflation.

The president emphasized that while wage hikes may seem like an immediate fix, they must be carefully considered to avoid unintended negative effects on the economy or employment rates.

As deliberations continue, Marcos and other government officials will work to find a solution that supports workers while ensuring economic stability.
