Marcos lands in New Delhi to kick off state visit

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in New Delhi, India, on Monday, August 4, 2023, to commence his first state visit to the country. The visit marks the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and India.

Marcos is scheduled to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his five-day stay. Discussions between the two leaders are expected to focus on enhancing maritime cooperation and defense ties.

The agenda also includes a meeting with India’s President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore economic opportunities.

Marcos will travel to Bengaluru as part of his itinerary to meet with business leaders and further economic engagement. The visit highlights the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Marcos is expected to lay a wreath at a prominent memorial during his state visit. The trip will conclude on August 8, 2023, with Marcos expected to depart India after completing his engagements.
