President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday, announced in Manila that authorities issued arrest warrants for resigned lawmaker Zaldy Co and 17 other individuals in connection with an undisclosed case, following confirmation from law enforcement agencies.
Marcos said law enforcement officials informed him about the issuance of the warrants before he disclosed the development to reporters during an engagement on Friday.
He stated that the warrants cover Co and 17 other respondents whose names authorities have not yet publicly released at the time of his announcement.
The president added that agencies in charge of enforcing the warrants will coordinate to locate and arrest Co and the other individuals listed.
Marcos said the executive branch will leave further details of the case to the courts and the agencies directly handling the investigation and prosecution.
He declined to provide specific information on the nature of the charges and directed questions on the case to the appropriate authorities.
