PALM BEACH, Fla. — A man in his early 20s was shot and killed early Sunday near the secure perimeter of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, the U.S. Secret Service said.

Authorities described the incident as an “unauthorized entry” into the protected area surrounding the property.

The shooting occurred while Secret Service personnel were on duty. The man was confronted as he attempted to breach the secure perimeter and died at the scene. Officials have not confirmed whether he was armed. No Secret Service personnel or other individuals were injured.

Federal and local authorities are investigating. The Secret Service is reviewing security footage, physical evidence, and witness accounts, while local law enforcement is conducting its own inquiry. Officials have not released the man’s identity, citing next-of-kin notification.

There is no indication of a broader security threat or connection to the former president. Security operations at Mar-a-Lago remain in place, and further details will be released as the investigation continues.
