WASHINGTON — The Trump-aligned super PAC MAGA Inc. plans to spend $10 million on television and digital advertising in the Texas Senate race, according to a Federal Election Commission filing Saturday that indicates the group will target Democratic nominee James Talarico.
The spending comes as Republicans urge President Donald Trump’s political operation to invest more heavily in the 2026 midterm elections, particularly in Texas, where Republican nominee Ken Paxton faces Talarico in the general election.
Paxton defeated Republican Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP primary earlier this year after Trump endorsed the state attorney general over the incumbent senator.
Some Republicans have raised concerns about Paxton’s ability to win the general election because of controversies surrounding his political and personal life. The Texas House impeached Paxton in 2023 over allegations of bribery and abuse of public trust, but the state Senate later acquitted him after a trial.
Paxton’s wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, also filed for divorce last year, citing “biblical grounds … in light of recent discoveries.” She did not provide further details.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., urged Trump’s political operation earlier this week to spend money in Texas. Thune estimated that advertising in the state costs about $8 million a week.
Trump has since said he plans to campaign for Republican candidates, including Paxton, ahead of the November midterms.
“We’re going to go to Texas and work for Ken Paxton, who’s a great guy,” Trump told reporters Wednesday.
Trump also said Friday that he expects to spend as much as $500 million from MAGA Inc.’s funds to support Republican candidates.
“I think I have, like, close to a billion dollars in the super PAC, and I’m allocating probably $400 or $500 million,” Trump said.
MAGA Inc. reported more than $400 million in cash as of July 31.
The super PAC also launched national television ads this week promoting Trump’s agenda as Republicans prepare for the midterm elections.
