BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Louisiana authorities have issued a warrant for a California-based doctor accused of mailing abortion pills to a woman in the state, according to court records.
The warrant, issued in 2024, remains active and is connected to a broader legal effort by Louisiana to limit access to the abortion drug mifepristone.
In court testimony, a Louisiana woman stated that her former boyfriend used her name, address, and email to order mifepristone and misoprostol from the doctor without her consent. She said she intended to carry the pregnancy to term.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said the state is pursuing legal action against providers who mail abortion medication into states where abortion is banned.
The doctor’s name has not been publicly released. The physician has declined to comment on the warrant.
The case highlights growing legal tensions between states with abortion bans and those with laws that protect providers who offer services across state lines.
