SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — BiblioTech, a digital public library in Bexar County, launched a 24-hour effort today to set a world record for the most library card registrations in a single day.
The attempt began at 8:00 AM as part of Library Card Sign-Up Month.
The current record stands at 3,000 sign-ups. BiblioTech is seeking to surpass that number through online and in-person registrations. The initiative is open to Bexar County residents aged 16 and older. Participants are required to present a photo ID and proof of address to complete the registration.
Residents can register through the BiblioTech website or at any library location. Promotional efforts include social media campaigns and outreach events.
Library membership grants access to digital materials, including eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming content. These resources are available at no cost to Bexar County cardholders.
BiblioTech operates as an all-digital public library, offering services without requiring physical materials or in-person borrowing.
The record attempt is scheduled to conclude 24 hours after its start. Final registration numbers will determine whether the library has achieved the goal.
