HOUSTON, Texas– The son of late Houston community advocate “Mama Boone” will distribute 600 turkeys during a Thanksgiving giveaway on Saturday, November 22, at 9 a.m. in Houston.

The event will continue a holiday tradition established in her name.

Organizers said the distribution will operate on a first-come, first-served basis at a neighborhood Mama Boone served. Families do not need to register and will receive one turkey per household while supplies last.

Volunteers will set up the site, load turkeys into vehicles, guide participants, and assist elderly or disabled residents. The team will use refrigerated trucks and temporary storage to keep turkeys at safe temperatures and will follow health and safety guidelines during distribution.

The son of Mama Boone will lead the effort with family members, community leaders, and local supporters. Private donations and community contributions fund the event.
