Leander mayor leaves post, election slated for Feb. 7

Leander Mayor Christine DeLisle has officially resigned from her post, with her last day in office set for October 16.

The City of Leander confirmed receiving DeLisle’s resignation and announced that a special election will be held on February 7 to fill the mayoral vacancy.

In the meantime, the Leander City Council will oversee the city’s operations and ensure continuity in governance during the transition period. City officials said preparations are underway for the election, including candidate filings, polling logistics, and voter information campaigns.

City officials emphasized their commitment to transparency and adherence to state and local election regulations. Details on voter registration deadlines, polling locations, and filing procedures for candidates will be announced in the coming weeks.

The city government assured residents that essential services and programs will continue uninterrupted as preparations for the special election move forward.
