MANILA — Lea Salonga and Rachelle Ann Go will lead the cast of the “Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular” concert when it arrives in the Philippines early next year, according to a casting update released in Manila.
Producers confirmed that Salonga and Go will headline the concert-format staging of the internationally acclaimed musical, which forms part of a global tour with additional stops to be announced.
Organizers stated that the Philippine engagement will showcase a full company of performers, featuring the two Filipina theater artists in principal roles. The concert will highlight selections from the musical originally composed by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, later adapted into English by Herbert Kretzmer.
Production representatives described the event as a special world tour presentation, with orchestrations and choral arrangements designed for large concert venues. The touring company is scheduled to rehearse in advance of the Philippine performances to prepare the musical numbers and technical elements.
