Representatives from the Filipino American National Historical Society – Houston Chapter also attended the event.

The commemoration began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the José Rizal Monument in Hermann Park, followed by a program at the Consulate’s Mabini Hall. During the program, the short film Ang Batang Rizal at ang Lihim na Liwanag, directed by Fritz Silerio, was screened, with the director present at the event.

Held under the theme “Rizal: Sa Pagbangon ng mga Mamamayan, Aral at Diwa Mo ang Tunay na Gabay” (“Rizal: As Our People Rise, Your Teachings and Wisdom Guide Our Way”), Consul Von Ryan Pangwi and KOR-Texas leadership highlighted the continuing relevance of Rizal’s teachings for Filipinos across generations and professions, both in the Philippines and the global diaspora.
