Kerrville Police Department issued a warning about individuals posing as Texas A&M University researchers.

The impostors have approached residents, claiming to need access to private land to shoot deer for chronic wasting disease testing. Police confirmed these individuals are not affiliated with Texas A&M University.

Authorities urged residents to stay alert and report any encounters immediately using the department’s non-emergency number.

Officials reminded the public that legitimate researchers follow proper procedures and do not make unsolicited requests for land access.

The warning emphasizes the importance of verifying identities before granting entry to private property. Police continue to monitor the situation and investigate the fraudulent claims.

The Kerrville Police Department reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and transparency, thanking residents for their vigilance.

Authorities stressed that awareness and timely reporting play key roles in maintaining a secure community.
