MANILA, Philippines— Gilas Pilipinas named Kai Sotto to its 18-man pool for the upcoming Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Guam, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced on social media on Monday, Nov. 17, in Metro Manila.

SBP officials said the 7-foot-3 center will not play in the game against Guam as the coaching staff monitors his condition. Head coach Tim Cone explained that Sotto remains in the pool for future games during the qualifying window, depending on his readiness and team needs.

The 18-man roster was compiled in coordination with Cone and the Gilas coaching staff as part of preparations for the qualifiers. Gilas Pilipinas will conduct training sessions in Metro Manila to finalize player combinations and assess the availability and fitness of all players.

Officials said the team will reduce the 18-man pool to a smaller game-day lineup in compliance with Fiba regulations before facing Guam. The SBP stated that it continues coordinating with players’ professional clubs and representatives to manage schedules, training commitments, and participation in the qualifiers.

SBP representatives said updates on roster changes, game schedules, and other campaign information will be released through its official channels and social media platforms.
