MANILA, Philippines — Justin Brownlee is embracing the growing buzz around his son, as fans of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel imagine a future where Brownlee Jr. follows in his footsteps.
The veteran import said he has seen the viral clips of his 13-year-old son, whose dunks and highlight plays have been making rounds online. While many supporters are already dreaming of him suiting up for Ginebra someday, Brownlee said such a scenario would be special—but remains uncertain.
“It’d be great,” Brownlee said of the possibility. “His dream, like a lot of young kids, is to get to the NBA. Just like me, if that doesn’t work out, it’d be another dream come true for myself and maybe for him too. Let’s see how his career goes.”
Brownlee Jr. is currently competing in the Manila Live tournament organized by the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC), where he plays for FilAm-Nation Select Los Angeles-Devance. His team has advanced to the finals and will face Blue Steel Basketball at Mall of Asia Arena.
For the longtime Ginebra reinforcement, the attention surrounding his son is a proud moment. Brownlee said many people have approached him about the young player’s highlights, a sign that the next generation of basketball talent in his family is already drawing notice.
