Justin Brownlee returns to PH to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas

MANILA, Philippines — Justin Brownlee arrived in Manila to join Gilas Pilipinas in preparation for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) confirmed.

The naturalized player’s arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport was shared on social media by Jun Atienza, a utility staff member for Barangay Ginebra and Gilas Pilipinas.

Brownlee is expected to strengthen the national team as it competes against international opponents in the initial window of the FIBA Qualifiers. His addition adds depth to a roster that includes several other seasoned domestic and international players.

The team has begun a comprehensive training camp aimed at integrating players and refining strategies ahead of the tournament. Coaching staff are preparing players for the challenges of securing a spot in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Brownlee has played a key role with Barangay Ginebra in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), and his experience is expected to contribute to Gilas Pilipinas’ performance in the qualifiers. The SBP continues coordinating with players and support staff to ensure readiness for upcoming matches.

The FIBA World Cup Qualifiers will take place across multiple venues, and Gilas Pilipinas’ results will determine its progression in the global tournament.

Officials and players remain focused on preparation and strategy to enhance the team’s competitiveness on the international stage.
