A woman sued the hip-hop mogul on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, claiming he and two other men raped her 20 years ago in a New York City recording studio when she was 17. The jury in Dallas is set to begin deliberations in the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering.

Combs has not testified in his defense, and his legal team did not call any witnesses, focusing instead on challenging the credibility of the prosecution’s accusers.

The high-profile trial has drawn widespread attention, with the prosecution presenting evidence that they say links Combs to a multi-state sex trafficking scheme.

Legal experts note that it is common for defendants, especially in high-profile cases, to decline to testify to avoid potentially damaging cross-examination.

Combs’ defense team has concentrated on discrediting the prosecution’s witnesses, arguing that their accounts are inconsistent and motivated by ulterior reasons.

During closing arguments, the prosecution emphasized the gravity of the charges and called on the jury to carefully consider the evidence and testimonies. The defense urged jurors to scrutinize the reliability of the accusers and separate fact from speculation.

Throughout the several weeks of trial, intense media and public scrutiny have accompanied the proceedings due to Combs’ celebrity status. The jury’s forthcoming deliberations are expected to be closely watched.

Combs has consistently denied the allegations, maintaining his innocence and expressing confidence in the judicial process. The charges he faces carry serious legal penalties if he is found guilty.
