San Miguel Beer star and PBA Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference June Mar Fajardo reassured fans that his right knee injury is minor after a scare in Game 5 of the Finals against TNT.

During the third quarter of San Miguel’s 96-82 victory, Fajardo fell awkwardly on his right knee in a play involving Poy Erram and Rodney Brondial. He briefly sat on the bench for most of the third and fourth quarters before returning in the final minutes.

“I got pushed and my knee just fell badly. I’ll be assessed, but I took some painkillers and I’m good,” Fajardo said. “Hopefully, it doesn’t swell. Right now, it’s only swelling up a little. I can play.”

Despite the incident, Fajardo still recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

In a text message to the Inquirer, the reigning MVP confirmed he is ready for San Miguel’s Game 6 closeout on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena. “It’s just banged up. It’s not sprained,” he said.
