Early voting results released Saturday night by the Galveston County Clerk’s Office show former city council member John Paul Listowski leading in the race for mayor of Galveston, receiving 61% of 4,244 ballots cast, compared with 36.2% for Marie Robb and 2.8% for William Boike.

The results reflect ballots cast during the early voting period and were released after polls closed on Election Day.

The mayor of Galveston presides over city council meetings. The position carries a two-year term limit, with a maximum of three consecutive terms.

Listowski served on the Galveston City Council from 2018 to 2024. His campaign platform includes fiscal management, enforcement of short-term rental regulations, and support for small businesses. He received an endorsement from outgoing mayor Craig Brown.

“It’s exciting,” Listowski told Houston Public Media on Saturday. “We’ve worked super hard on this, and we came into this as somewhat of the underdog.”

Robb previously represented District 6 on the Galveston City Council and serves on the board of the Houston-Galveston Area Council. She said she would provide a statement the day after the election.

Boike, who has lived in Galveston for seven years, campaigned on lowering the cost of living and reducing property taxes. He did not respond to requests for comment Saturday night.
