DALLAS, Texas— Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and head coach Brian Schottenheimer have publicly shared their personal battles with cancer, highlighting their ongoing resilience and commitment to the organization.

Jones revealed that he had been battling melanoma for the past decade, a diagnosis he received during a routine medical check-up.

Despite undergoing various treatments, he has remained actively involved with the team, regularly attending games and meetings. Medical professionals continue to monitor his condition, and team officials have provided necessary accommodations to support his health.

Jones’ family has played a key role throughout his treatment, and he has since become an advocate for cancer awareness and early detection. His experience underscores the importance of regular health screenings, particularly for conditions like melanoma, which often develop without early symptoms.

Separately, head coach Brian Schottenheimer disclosed that he had also faced cancer, though the specific type has not been made public. Schottenheimer underwent treatment and has since recovered. His coaching duties with the Cowboys continued uninterrupted during his health battle.

The Cowboys organization, including players and staff, has expressed strong support for both Jones and Schottenheimer. The team emphasizes a culture of health and wellness and remains united in supporting those affected by serious health challenges.

Jones and Schottenheimer remain in their leadership roles with the team, reinforcing a message of perseverance and strength. Their stories serve as reminders of the personal challenges that often unfold behind the scenes and the resilience required to lead both on and off the field.
